Home for the holidays 12-20-17 ... Riley formally Hoytts Valiant Soldier CGC now resides in Saltville, Va. His folks have been clients since the early nineties, on his arrival home a beautiful six year old Hoytt named Pride was waiting to begin his instructions in "Yes Dear" training. 

 For my new family from my old family.

 Hi I’m Riley. I was reserved as a pup and completed both Super Pup Programs as well as the Custom Young Adult level two with the CGC and headed to my new family in Texas. Since placed I've learned so much more then what we learn in school. Life lived is best to describe the knowledge I've gained after placement. But who could know that hurricane Harvey would turn my families life upside down and I'd have to write this letter ( well with help).

Now a little about me & family life,  I’m one of the sweetest dogs you will ever meet.  I can look tough when necessary but that's a front after all I am the family guardian. Here are a few of my favorite things. 

I understand a small vocabulary so my family thinks but Food, Outside,  Potty,  Bed,  Sit,  Lay,  Off,  Up,  Come,  Load Up, ‘Leave it” Kiss, Gentle - when I'm handed a very choice treat and the many silent directions they give me with their eyes are really just a small part of what I understand but why give up all my secrets.

When I first wake up, I love to sit and have my collar put on me and go outside.  Once I’ve done my business, I can hardly wait for breakfast. I love my breakfast and dinner, especially when you add a little hot water and make me some gravy.... I really love it when you add an egg. 

But watch out my tummy doesn’t like chicken, for sure I’m better with duck, lamb or beef. Oh and keep my water bowl full plus I will eat anything you give me but peach skin,  That’s just too much!  I even love sauerkraut. I love taking naps in the sun.  It looks like I'm tanning, but I just love the warm sun on me.

One of my favorite things is to lay on the floor and cuddle next to you. But tap your leg when you are sitting and I will gently put both paws on you leg and if you ask for a kiss it will be given gently. I love scratches and just hanging out on my bed closest to my family. While you are at your computer I will lay down closest to you awaiting your direction all day leaving sometimes only to hang with my other family or do my security check.

If you rub my ears or scratch my belly I’m a very happy boy and will even smile for you. If you hear me or see me chopping my jaws that means I want something. I may want just a quick "I love you" pat on the head but ask me things and I'll let you know.

I chomp my teeth rather than bark to get your attention if I need water, food, to go outside – or, if it’s dark, I want us all to go to bed.  

Speaking of bed, I have a particular way I like it. Not that I won’t love another way with my new family, but here’s what I like right now…I like to sit, you take off my collar, tell me ‘bed’, I get in and lay down.  Then you give me a kiss on my nose and cover me with my favorite white blanket. Which I will bring. 

Make the room nice and dark, but don’t close the door if I’m not in your same room.  I like to be able to see or hear you remember I am the family guardian.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE sleeping in your bed.  However, I’m not good at sharing it.  I tend to take my share out of the middle and only leave about 6” for anyone else – and that’s in a king bed.  I’ve learned to not get in unless I’m invited and I am most honorable when it comes to the rules I've been taught.

I do good in the house by myself.  I’d rather be with my owners, but I’m good alone too.  It gives me time to catch a nap or two.  My mom usually has me a toy and a few big bones around to chew on.  Most of the time I’m not interested in bones but occasionally I get a hankering to chew on them. 

I love all humans who have been welcomed into the family circle. They’re my favorite but guests are welcome to as long as you have welcomed them into our home.   No doubt, I love my mom very much, but feel a kinship with men too since the men take me for walks and even into stores.   It’s a guy thing. Just so you know.   I love all ages – the nice ones anyway and I like the attention I get from the little people and are usually invited into their kid games. 

I’m a leaner,  Full on body leaner.  It’s one of my favorite ways to show you that I love you! I enjoy playing with other dogs of all kinds.  It’s one of my favorite non-human things!  However, I don’t really like to see other dogs walking down the street pulling their owners or dogs coming into my front yard since they do things that smell bad....Plain and simple.  Come and play with me or just don’t come over! 

I’m so-so at fetching.  I get distracted and would rather run and play. Oh also I've been called the Squirrel Whisperer what ever that means. One of my favorite things to do is sit and put my hands on your lap so you can rub my ears and neck and all you have to say is "Hi handsome" Ahhh! I love walks and hikes too. 

I’m good at riding in the car and love traveling!  My owners put some water and a little bit of food and my big bed in and I'll hop right into the back of our SUV when my parents say ‘load up’ and off we go. I like it best when I have a little fresh or cool air blowing on me.  I can ride for hours and hours – of course with a few stops on the way to stretch my legs and just look around, I’m not so good at ‘doing my business’ on a leash.  I like it when I can go and potty on my own.  If I have to do it, it will only be as a last resort but I will.

Oh I kind of think cats are squirrels. It’s hard to leave my ‘old’ family, and trusting my old friend Barrie to find me the best new family. I know they’ll miss me and I’ll miss them.  So keep me busy while I attend Camp classes until I join my new family. I’m full of love, kindness and the knowledge gained since I became a Texan and the advancements I'll make at school. 

FROM THE BOSS ... Riley also is referred to by kids and adults alike here as Smiley Riley. Recently a more extensive health examination over the one given when he left Texas for Tennessee added the Twenty Four Hour Halter Monitor Heart test just before Thanksgiving. The results came in EXCELLENT. Riley has finished all the refresher programs and now we seek Riley's new family.  He's also a great socialize with our guests. This gentle handsome Hoytt Doberman I hope will be home by January 11, 2018 my birthday. And I must add that he is quite respective of my girls London and Zoey, for sure is a "yes dear kind of guy"  Meaning if they want his bed he gives it or shares it. If they want a toy or bone he has he gives it. Riley is definitely a gentleman. A plus if you work out of your home he will be close and patient just waiting for the "Hi handsome". And here his littlest house buddy is our cat BC additionally he is quite the big brother to our younger students. At PetSmart he is a gentleman even to the Yorkie types. Quite the unique canine. 

And for the first timer to our site I apologize  but at time of purchase I promise our purchasers that if they have to give up their Hoytt I will only place with a well established client. Riley will also be placed with an added 100% monetary return 30 day trial yet within hours of his arrival to know you hit the Lottery. And Riley will be delivered by me personally.

Remember too we offer door to door service for all our Dobes but there is a price on this based on distance. To date we've done personal deliveries as far as Austin TX, Phoenix, AZ, Long Island NY, Chicago IL, New Orleans La, Boston Mass, Muskegan Mi, Hollywood Ca, Fairbanks Alaska, Vermont, Seattle Wa, and Ft. Myers Fl.  Oh also Iceland, Bahamas and Tortola BC. And in October flew a Hoytt to Denmark.
