Understanding Our Longevity Assurance

For those who follow our recommendations predominatly,  a once a year physical begining at 3 yrs of age (with a copy of reports sent to us following the kids exam, which helps with our on-going health and genetic tracking programs) with a few easy guide lines, including FDA's dietary advisories.  Plus we offer a very balanced supplimental program of our own....Go to our page on Creature Comforts to order; an easy way of giving these health enhancing suppliments. Please go back to main menu for details. And as an added brag, we remind the reader that since 1985, we have protected the Hoytt Dobe through the true breeders art. With this final point of reference related to LINE BREEDING.. Meaning all dogs going back decades were controlled by the Hoytt's. In effect we are covering all genetic conditions that could take the life of your Hoytt Dobe.

A bit of Hoytt history

Lets start from 1964...Yes, 60 years ago when we offered the first assurances that promised to back each Hoytt Dobe with a Lifetime non-possessive Temperament Guarantee, which is still in effect today, and a six-month Health Guarantee against any of the primary health problems of the times including hip and elbow dysplasia, which is now extended to the Hoytt Dobes' 10th birthday.. Boy were we trashed by other Doberman sellers at the time and today "anonymous" like to slam us, - like how can anyone guarantee natural accuracies? Well to begin with we were offering a form of investment protections with a reselection. So how can we now assure certain conditions will not surface? We created every Dobe behind the canine kids being presented for decades. We may follow gene study via the folks doing the evaluations, which we do but better we have come to know the background Dobes because we created them. We know first-hand the many temperament, structure  and comprehensive qualities as well as watching for negatives, mental, physical and intellectual. Our matching of pairs is not on hearsay, but first-hand knowledge of the background relations. Please return to menu and open up Understanding a Pedigree. Noting on the Hoytt pedigree all the dogs carry our registered name.  Actually, we had a Flordia Hoytt make 18 years, Rommel, all tho few humans reach 100, so yes, the boy has his own place in our history.  We can protect the purchasers initial investment in their Hoytt Dobe and because we Line Breed which can be directly traced back to the earliest hand-picked German imports in our breed history. From Dictator \ The House of Dictator the too well known about Warlock From Cinnamon from owned by Colonel Ray Hoover of Dobe Acres.  From the sixties we were honored to have brought a dozen of the top German stock lines that in time were the true foundation of the new Amercan Dobe, but we protect the genetic make-up of our Hoytt Dobes. Even cancer in a Hoytt Dobes is so rare less than 1% (one precent) is perhaps too high for the actual history of the Hoytt Dobe. And for sure all the remaining canine problems are almost non-existent which also allows us to give an extreme Life Assurance. Any questions you may have in any area we discuss is simply a call or text away from answers. To check new line health history of a Europian canine go to Doberbase.ru and just type in registered name.

 Strange start...let’s talk diet first.

Today, so many new viruses identified along with almost as many genetic and congenital variables as us humans can face plus the possible dangers of the so-called super diets offered pet owners without breed specific or cross breed research. It takes a combination of knowledge and good old fashion luck to enjoy a long healthy life, both ours and our canines. Overall, we as owners must do more than just feed what we can afford. The $4.00 meal for one dog may be a plus but for another may be a death sentence. Even in our human world, research says 50% of us could die from heart problems related to our diets. Yet this has not stopped us from human and pet companionships.

So how do you choose your dog's diet? Turn to the established specialty breeder you acquired canine from as our clients do and most questions can be answered. For others who just happened to find a pup from a family-owned pair or broker, best first find a breed specific veterinarian or today one only has to punch up "dog diets" on the internet. But do remember to check the credentials of the writer before you accept a stranger’s word as gospel.

Now let’s talk about our programs

Keep in mind in the Doberman world we lead in both first-hand knowledge. Knowledge of every Dobe behind todays Hoytt Dobermans thru selective Line breeding for at least 15 generations, choosing only the best genetic health history, the best minds and for an added touch, excellent style where point for point we follow the American Kennel Club breed standard. When you can, do go back to Menu and open "Understanding pedigrees" to better understand the three different breeding variable types, even better you can separate facts from fiction.

Inbreeding where mother to son, father to daughter or even litter mates will be creating puppies still called "Prue Bred".

Outcross same breed but the sellers have no way of profiling since each mated pair comes from different sellers/breeders. In 1908 the first Dobe was registered with the AKC. In the mid-sixties when the AKC yearly registered Dobes first reached the 5000 mark the top breeders of the times truly knew the few dozen serious breeders of the times-in effect bred their Dobes. Only in most situation to dogs and owners known. Most of the early specialty kennels where the first like Hoytt who also controlled which of their breeding age Dobes would be available to who. Yet even with careful choices, within an additional ten years, about mid-seventies American Dobe registrations put the Dobe second place ( poodles of all sizes combined were number one) with a jump in US Dobe population alone reaching over 100,000.

Since then the only private line breeder today of the Dobe is BARRIE HOYTT. While the professional breeders went the way of the proverbial horse and buggy so to speak with many retiring due to their age.  Today the Hoytt Dobe beat all the odds and is the longest-lived protected line in canine history. The key to our success represents the third type of breeding called Line Breeding. There are but a handful of Line Breeders ( all breeds considered) in the world today since it takes more than a few decades to develop a private line and to accomplish this every dog given life must be studied from the pup to the young adult and then client feedback during the Dobes adult life. To consistently use only the exceptional minds, personalities and health as mating judgement.

SIDE NOTE -We are pleased that today we have folks who are ten, twenty even fifty-year clients who are more part of our family then just an owner of a Hoytt Dobe. Also, most of our clients have pairs, a few have three and two clients have one of each color - blue, fawn, black &red. No Hoytt Dobe has ever been born "WHITE" nor even part white - another plus with Line Breeding.

1...Starting with the Hoytt Dobes who will be the future parents who are client owned, know too that we do not keep future breeders caged, kenneled, penned or even pushed out as a free dog in trade for a multitude of litters. We also do not offer stud service to non-Hoytt Dobes since I became aware of CANINE BRUCELLOSIS back in the seventies which is mostly transmitted during mating. To date not a single Hoytt Dobe in our breeding program have ever faced this nasty disease. Nor have we bred our girls and boys over five years of age since the eighties with few exceptions. One was a nine year old male, a Hoytt in Iceland - yes Iceland. The first Doberman the government allowed citizenship to. Formally Kristijans Spirit V Hoytt who passed away at 12. When Spirit was about seven years old the second Hoytt Dobe arrived, friends of Spirit’s family. Then when the girl turned two years of age as planned, the two were with government approval, gave us ten babies. Then the first litter of Icelandic Dobes were born. Mother's name was Tinna formally Blandon's Tinna Von Hoytt who together helped create decades later my Caspian a 5th generation Grandson of the pair. I had reserved one of the pups from the pair.

Note when breeding to an older dog we created, know this is like traveling back in time allowing a true reevaluation of the family Line. But word of advice older first-time dates should only be attempted after detailed physicals or the boy could die due to this new experience. Yet for sure never, never gamble with the life of an older bitch. The girls like us humans are best having kids young - our girls are usually around sixteen months of age and a second breeding when possible is no older then five - this just makes good sense. Actually, most of our girls only have one litter which usually can keep the next generation alive. And usually, the females are then spayed.

ADVISORY ... We discourage spaying before the female has had at least one heat cycle, two best to help cut down the chance of early incontinence.

2...Male or female each new generation of our canine parents are privately owned Hoytt Dobes purchased outright in almost all cases with no breeding demands. But for sure today even I would not have my London, Caspian or "Q" if it were not for my clients who understand without their boy or girl there would be no Hoytt Dobes for any of us.

Also, for general services or emergencies our drivers are available.

3.....just before the actual mating which takes place at the kennel under our supervision, the soon to be mom will be given a 24 hour Holter Monitoring to confirm heart health along with a general physical.

4...Since 50% of the dog world as well as the human world's diet is possibly the most problematic cause of medical problems with HEART HEALTH our top concern, the to-be-mother will be on our exclusive cardio health diet and our personal line of health boosting dietary supplements. Actually a total health boost for the mother who may already be on our program under the branding of Vita Max and Wild Alaskan Fish Oil (Farmed Salmon & Pollock raised in farms is not a good source of Omega 3 & and Omega 6. Only wild caught Salmon & Pollock has the Omega 3 we want our canines on.) Most of those Hoytt Dobes who have a wonderful life exclusively being a great companion and protector to their humans.

5...We also do a parasite check and confirm the soon to be mom has been well inoculated for a multitude of viruses. Also, a Heart Worm check even though the Hoytt Dobes live the life of royalty; because they are! Check out our past Newsletters in this web site, see for yourself. Also know the mothers will be passing on a wide range of antibodies to their pups and know because we enjoy very responsible ownership, we have not had a single Hoytt Dobe face any of the life altering or worse, death. Presented by the Doberman Pincher Club of America as a warning to those thinking thier next great canine is not only a Doberman but a Hoytt Doberman. In part because of the mothers inherent passing of virus protections plus the required yearly boosters and of course excellent owner care.

6... As each new virus surfaced over our sixty plus years serving Doberman enthusiasts, the research world in general and our own people have helped in giving us insight into many preventatives which we further build on. Our clients have literally not seen their Hoytt Dobes lost because of breaks in their immunization programs or face most of the physical maladies discussed by the breed clubs around the world. Of course, the client must keep the yearly veterinary health check and boosters up to date since knowledge of both genetics and medical protocols are guided by our direction, client veterinarians and after placement owner feedback which is all important when we choose our pre-placement services as well as breeding matches. In turn it is also this added after placement information from our owners that allows us to offer the following health assurances as well as predicting what a pup's health and personality will be in its years as an adult.

A... Send the Hoytts a copy of each veterinary visit whether the visit was for inoculations or other services during the life of the Hoytt Dobe. Basically, besides keeping the Hoytt's upto date on medical history of each Hoytt Dobe, in the end it is most important that the owner of thier Hoytt Dobe when it turns 3 years of age is given a detailed pysical. Should any genetic or congenital problems show up even if there are no signs of negative health conditions caused the need for this 36-month examination.

NOTE-No veterinary reports, no excuses, no replacement.

B...Following diagnosis a letter describing the general condition of the Dobe when the Dobe initially came for the initial examination. Also copies of photos, x-rays and lab reports used for the diagnosis.

C...Following receipt of the required documents, a youngster will be selected and finish our medical completion puppy program as well as the training level the Hoytt Dobe received before placement. This is most health assurances a seller of canines ever promised. And do remember we have fifty plus years of backing our Hoytt Dobes.

Our youngest pups are around eleven weeks when they are finished with their veterinary program and ready for their new family should the buyer prefer our youngest offering. This is limited to the pup and services added before placement. When placed as a pup, training advancement is available but optional. Owner responsibility for costs to deliver "Door to Door", halfway meet or Airline Delivery when owner can arrange personal pick up.

The House of Hoytt "Life Assurance Program" re-selection credit is based on a ten percent original cost outlined below.

EXAMPLES. Should the Hoytt Dobe pass before its first birthday or a terminal but controlled problem arises the Hoytts will extend this reselection program through the life of the treatment. Overall, from the 2nd thru the tenth birthday, upon the Hoytt Dobe's passing a credit of 10% for each lost year will be available toward an equal quality Hoytt Dobe. From the pup to the medical services as well as training before placement.

On the Hoytt Dobes tenth birthday no further credit is offered.
